Position Summary

The Director of Golf Events and Marketing is instrumental in organizing and implementing golf events, tournaments, and/or outings and is responsible for ensuring that guests receive outstanding customer service, which meets or exceeds their expectations. Additional responsibilities include assisting in generating new business and maintaining relationships with current clients as well as generating additional revenues through up-selling of facility products, services, and amenities.  The position will be responsible for the development and implementation of sales and marketing strategies, plans, and programs to increase all rounds of golf.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process all requests for group outings/events. Prepare and maintain an outings calendar for the year. Develop and maintain a perpetual client roster.
  • Organize and execute all details for group outings, special events and tournaments including room reservations, meals, tee times, and other activities. Manage communication between departments to help ensure coordination of all guest needs and activities.
  • Develop and implement sales, marketing and public relations plans and strategies which serve to increase rounds played, promote positive Company image, and maximize revenues according to overall fiscal and operational budgeted goals.
  • Maintain knowledge of current and projected industry developments through continuous attention to marketing and golf industry periodicals and participation in relevant trade organizations.
  • Conduct orientations and tours as needed for guests. Interact with guests in a congenial and professional manner to provide information regarding facility products, services, amenities, activities, policies, etc.
  • Handle customer inquiries and/or complaints in accordance with operating policies and procedures.
  • Be fully knowledgeable of golf shop merchandise, restaurant and bar menus, hotel operations and amenities in order to generate additional revenue through up-selling prior to and/or during outings/events. Assist customers with special merchandise orders.
  • Monitor guest activities. Review customer satisfaction information. Analyze information reflecting customer purchases, usage of amenities, products and services. Make recommendations to appropriate departments as a means of continuous improvement.
  • Maintain positive relationships and communicate clearly, tactfully, and persuasively with all facility department heads to ensure that all employees, especially customer contact personnel, fully understand all pertinent details of events/outings in order to maximize customer satisfaction.
  • Assist with generating new business by developing on-going relationships with media, hotels, convention contacts, golf associations, civic organizations, etc. to promote group outings, special events, and tournaments.
  • Cross train other staff members on the general outing/event process to ensure outstanding customer service.
  • Perform other duties as appropriate.

 

Qualifications

  • BA or BS degree preferred
  • 3 years applicable marketing, sales, and management experience, preferably in the golf industry.
  • Demonstrated experience and capability in the areas of budget development, fiscal management, strategic planning, staff management, marketing, sales, public relations and community relations.
  • Demonstrated quality written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including early morning/nights/weekends.
  • Positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations.
