About Dismal River Club
Dismal River Club is a private club with 450 members. Established in 2006, Dismal River Club has attracted fervent golfers from across the country and around the globe to the Sandhills of Western Nebraska.  We are a private club and in 2017, expanded our offerings to include hunting, fishing, an array of outdoor excursions, and additional lodging amenities, in addition to world-class golf. We host a variety of tournaments and events.   We currently have a waiting list for membership.  Dismal River Club is prairie links golf in its purest form, offering two course options; the White Course, designed by Jack Nicklaus, and the Red Course, designed by Tom Doak.

A day in the life
As the Director of Golf you will oversee all aspects of Golf Operations and will have the ultimate responsibility for maximum guest satisfaction and financial performance.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitoring annual budget, revenue goals and expenses for operations.
  • Overseeing golf operations including group outings, tournaments, rules, tee sheet activity, merchandise inventory, range operations, carts, player services.
  • Creating a customer service-oriented atmosphere that promotes golf and meets the needs of members and guests.
  • Working closely with the Superintendent and Food/Beverage department, ensuring timely communication and establishing a good working relationship.
  • Performing payroll tasks as needed.
  • Monitoring business volume and plans accordingly.
  • Providing golf instruction as needed.
  • Policing members and guests while they are on the property.
  • Accompanying  guest and members in the game of golf as needed.
  • Managing departmental employees.
  • Conducting staff meetings.
  • Working with Pro Shop team to promote merchandise sales.
  • Incorporating safe work practices.

Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor’s Degree OR related experience and training.
  • Experienced in POS systems helpful.
  • BA / BS degree, preferred.
  • PGA Class A credentials.
  • Minimum 5 years management experience in the golf or hospitality industry.
  • Demonstrated experience and capability in the areas of fiscal management and staff management. Retailing, marketing, and/or sales and customer service, guest relations experience preferred.
  • Experienced in creating successful programming which is designed to maximize the guest experience as well as existing and potential revenue opportunities.
  • Proficiency with computer software including word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Demonstrated quality written, verbal, interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including nights/weekends.
  • Positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations.
