Property Description
Cantigny Golf & Park, on the former estate of Robert R. McCormick, covers 500+ acres and is comprised of a 27-hole championship golf course consistently rated among the top courses in the state, three spectacular wedding and event venues, the renowned Cantigny Park and Gardens, and a host of wedding ceremony sites.

Position Summary
Responsible for the sales and coordination of banquet/catered events throughout the entire property.  Plan events with clients, including personalization of highly customized events.  Manage financial aspects of events, including billing, payment processing, and account management.  Coordinate the event details with F&B operations team to ensure client expectations are met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage flow of sales activities including answering emails, inquiries, and phone calls to maximize the sales potential of the operation.
  • Showcase property to existing and potential clients through tours, electronic communication, and in person meetings.
  • Works with the Culinary and Operations teams to schedule/coordinate personnel requirements for private functions
  • Develops detailed plans for each catered event in conjunction with the banquet operations team.
  • Serves as liaison between banquet service personnel and other staff members on the banquet operations team
  • Diagrams buffet tables, guest tables and other function room set-up needs for special events
  • Coordinates event details with F&B management team ensuring all event details are satisfied.
  • Ensures that all banquet staff are well-groomed and in proper uniform (including name tags)
  • Assists with on-going sales efforts for group and local function business
  • Assists in the preparation of the marketing plan and annual budget to increase the profitability of the banquet operation; monitors performance against budgets; recommends corrective actions as necessary to help assure that budget goals are met
  • Assist in maintenance of Banquet service supplies and décor items.
  • May assist in service for private events when necessary.
  • Handles guest complaints as needed and ensures guest satisfaction
  • Assists in the hiring, training, and performance evaluation of banquet service staff.
  • Regularly evaluates F&B facilities to ensure safety, exceptional appearance and proper function and communicates any needs to the appropriate team members.
  • Communicates staffing needs for catered events to the F&B manager responsible for scheduling.
  • Participates in scheduled staff and management meetings
  • Assumes Closing Manager and/or Manager on Duty (MOD) responsibilities when assigned
  • Conducts after-event evaluations to improve quality and efficiency of banquet functions
  • Ensures that all appropriate charges are billed correctly to each event and forwarded to the accounting department for billing
  • Plans professional development and training activities for staff
  • Performs other tasks as requested

Qualifications

  • College degree required.
  • 3 years event sales experience in a management capacity, preferably in the restaurant or hotel industry.
  • Demonstrated experience and capability in the areas of fiscal management, strategic planning.
  • Demonstrated quality written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including nights/weekends.
  • Positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations.
  • Must possess fluid knowledge and experience using a variety of software programs including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. In addition, must have ability to learn and develop proficiency in other software programs as needed.
