Property Description:

The Union County portfolio includes Galloping Hill Golf Course, The Learning Center at Galloping Hill, Ash Brook Golf Course, The Warinanco Sports Center, and Scotch Hills Country Club. The properties range from a 46,000 square foot clubhouse with a state-of-the-art, multimillion dollar learning center at Galloping Hill, to an Ice Skating Rink, a miniature golf course and two award-winning restaurants, among other assets. Throughout the last 15 years, KemperSports has supported Union County’s efforts to grow its golf assets through major projects, expansions and events, including opening three new clubhouse openings, two golf course renovations and the 2016 New Jersey Open at Galloping Hill, which marked the first time in more than 90 years that the event was hosted at a municipal facility.

 

Position Summary:

The Assistant Golf Professional will assist the Head Golf Professional in the management of the day-to-day golf operations of the facility.  The position is responsible to supervise and manage total golf operations in the absence of the Head Golf Professional.  All duties of the position shall be performed with a commitment to the highest level of customer service and total customer satisfaction. All PGA Classifications encouraged to apply.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with all opening and closing procedures
  • Assist with taking tee times and managing tee sheet
  • Assist with starting play and managing pace of play
  • Assist in tournament operations and weekly events including planning, promoting, setup, running, scoring, and billing
  • Assist with men’s, women’s & junior golf events and programs
  • Assist in Player Development programs using the PGA tools and resources
  • Directly responsible for PGA Junior League Golf: Registration, setting up and maintain the team website, working alongside the other Professional Staff to ensure a successful program
  • Responsible for inventory control of hard goods, soft goods, accessories and special orders including: Special order procedures, receiving procedures, inputting into point of sale, pricing procedures, display and sales
  • Assist with management of inside and outside staff (cart attendants) to ensure the highest level of customer service is achieved
  • Responsible for managing golf car operations (cleaning, preparing, and storing)
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner and maintain a professional image at all times
  • Conduct individual lessons and group clinics
  • Communicate effectively with all departments on a daily basis
  • Responsible for management and maintaining the club’s USGA Handicap System

 

Skills and traits:

  • Maintain/work toward PGA of America membership/remain in good standing in an active classification
  • High level of knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility operations and tournament operations
  • Act as a role model for all employees by demonstrating behavior and work ethic expected of all employees
  • Service and member focused attitude
  • Experienced in Microsoft Word and Excel. Proficient in e-mail, internet, tournament and database
  • Experienced in written and oral business communications
  • Maintain and promote a positive professional image within the community
  • Attend conferences, workshops, meetings and trade shows to keep up with business trends
  • Maintain a credible golf game and remain current on teaching innovations

 

Qualifications:

  • BA / BS degree, preferred.
  • PGA or LPGA Class A preferred
  • Min 5 years’ experience in the golf or hospitality industry preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience and capability in the areas of retailing, marketing, and/or sales, customer service, and guest relations preferred.
  • Demonstrated quality written, verbal, interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including nights/weekends.
  • Positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations.
