Hawthorn Woods Country Club is home to the area’s newest Arnold Palmer Signature Golf Course, an 18-hole architectural jewel designed to challenge and thrill players of all levels.  Carved along Lake County’s rolling countryside, Arnold Palmer masterfully created a design that enhances the essence of the local terrain.  The clubhouse and golf course are the focal point of a Toll Brothers 520 home master-planned private community. In addition to golf, Hawthorn Woods Country Club offers it’s over 500 member families exceptional dining and social activities, swimming and aquatics, year-round racquet sports (har tru clay courts and platform tennis) and a full-service fitness center, all served by a 21,000 square foot clubhouse.

A day in the life
You will be responsible for management of dining service within the clubhouse, outdoor patio (during season), and club events.  You will also ensure members and guests have a memorable dining experience.  In this role, you will hire, supervise, and train the service staff and develop/implement programs/menus to increase sales and incentivize service staff.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Assist in training server staff according to the procedures set forth by the Food & Beverage Manager.
  • Assist staff with greeting and seating guests during peak times of operation.
  • Organize all documentation for shift work on a daily basis including pre-shift briefing, daily training topics, shift floor plan, requisitions for beverage, food and sundries and manage labor on a daily basis.
  • Ensure all staff are meeting all established standards of service. Monitor and test service skills of staff, retrain and reinforce all standards on food and quality and service details daily. Provide
  • feedback and appraisals as necessary.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness of dining rooms and work areas; communicate issues of safety, cleanliness or malfunctions to appropriate departments; manage maintenance/safety issues to completion.
  • Assist with the planning and conducting of meetings for outlets on a monthly basis to ensure staff is correctly communicated with and that staff are consistently trained and well-motivated. Attend interdepartmental meetings to ensure good cross communication between departments.
  • Assist and direct the set up and tear down of Member and private events according to the BEO and according to Club standards.
  • Have open communication with the Executive Chef or Sous Chef in regards to timing or changes in dining menus
  • Complete covers report at the end of the evening.
  • Have a friendly and professional attitude when interacting with clients and their guests.
  • Uphold a positive work environment with managers and fellow staffers.
  • Check that servers are on time and in proper uniform.
  • Make sure that all equipment and supplies are returned clean and in their proper place.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of all dining rooms before, during and after events.
  • Proper handling of all food and beverage products.
  • Lock and alarm the rooms at the end conclusion of the day.
  • Ensure all current Accounting and Human Resources policies are being adhered to. Report any issues or grievances to F&B Director or General Manager.

Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to guests and other employees of the organization.
