Chris Parker Tapped as General Manager for Rock Spring Golf Club
NORTHBROOK, ILLINOIS, July 26, 2019 – KemperSports has appointed Chris Parker to serve as the General Manager at Rock Spring Golf Club, located in West Orange, New Jersey. As General Manager, Parker will be responsible for overseeing golf course operations and managing guest experiences at the club.
“We are excited to welcome Chris to KemperSports and Rock Spring Golf Club”, said Val D’Souza, vice president of operations, KemperSports. “Chris brings with him a wealth of industry knowledge and experience, which will greatly benefit the team as they move through their first season as a public course.”
Parker began his career managing various courses in the Charlotte, North Carolina area, as well as coaching college golf at his alma mater, Johnson. C. Smith University. He later went on to become a golf operations manager at East Potomac Golf Course in Washington, D.C. Parker most recently served as golf business manager for the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission in Prince George’s County, Maryland. In this role, Parker created golf instructional programs and business plans for three golf facilities.
Parker is a lifelong golf industry veteran. He grew up working various jobs at his father’s golf course, going on to play college golf where he was a three-time all-conference team selection.
Rock Spring’s 6,600-yard par-71 course sits on a rolling, tree-lined site featuring many design elements with green complexes by Architect Seth Raynor. The property has a clubhouse with sweeping views of the Manhattan skyline, Cable Lake and Second Mountain. Founded in 1925, Rock Spring Golf Club at West Orange has played host to the New Jersey State Open (1981, 1990, 2000 and 2009), the US Healthcare Classic, and many state PGA and USGA qualifying events.
Rock Spring Golf Club at West Orange has one of only two public golf courses in the United States designed by legendary Architect Seth Raynor, whose highly-ranked work includes Fisher’s Island in New York, Shoreacres on Chicago’s North Shore and Mid Ocean Club in Bermuda. Twelve of Raynor’s courses are on GOLF Magazine’s list of the Top 100 in the U.S.
KemperSports was hired this spring to manage the golf operations at Rock Spring Golf Club and lead the property transformation from a former private club into a public daily fee golf facility.
