Facility Description:

Shoal Creek Golf Course, which opened in the fall of 2001, has become one of the most talked about daily fee golf and banquet facilities in the Kansas City area. This 6,950-yard par 71 golf property was sculpted by golf course architect Steve Wolfard, and offers a truly unique golfing experience for players of varying skill levels. This extraordinary design features breathtaking elevation changes and expansive landing areas that meander through some of the most picturesque terrain in the Northland. The 11,000 square foot state of the art clubhouse was opened in the fall of 2003. It features a full-service dining room, banquet facilities, boardroom, locker rooms and a fully stocked pro shop. Hodge Park Golf Course is a popular northland course that is located in a very scenic setting with heavily wooded, rolling terrain.  The golf course is a par 71, it measures 6,223 yards and brings into play three lakes and a creek making seven holes hazardous.  Ten of the holes have some degree of “dogleg,” which puts a premium on golfer’s accuracy and skill.  The golf course is surrounded by rolling prairies and native buffalo grass.  The natural habitat of the golf course is home to a variety of wildlife.

 

Position Summary:

Manages and directs overall operational and fiscal performance of the facility in compliance with company policies and procedures. Develops and implements service, fiscal, operational, marketing and business development plans and strategies. Establishes and administers service and operational standards and quality performance guidelines for all operating functions and staff.

 

Major Duties:

  • Coordinate and facilitate effective communication with clients with regards to both properties, as well as the improvements and strategies being implemented throughout the entire facility.
  • Implement proven guest service training programs, True Service, designed to achieve “Best in Class” experience.
  • Supervise full and part-time staff members. Oversee and direct course superintendent, head professional, sales staff, food and beverage director, accounting and human resources.
  • Monitor and evaluate financial performance relative to budget goals and objectives. Analyze budget variances, and develop and implement action plans to achieve appropriate adjustments.
  • Coordinate accounting operations with home office, including the organization of appropriate expense invoices and payroll records.
  • Direct, coordinate and monitor the development of the facility’s annual business plan and operating/capital budgets.
  • Develop and communicate recommendations and plans for operating guidelines and capital projects with KemperSports senior management and ownership
  • Maintain and monitor a successful club operation which encompasses golf, food and beverage, agronomics, marketing and training.
  • Analyze and evaluate operations to determine productivity efficiencies vs. budgeted standards.
  • Review and approve financial expenditures and transactions relative to operations, services, and facilities/equipment within and according to established guidelines and procedures.
  • Insure the quality of customer service activities in all departments. Formulate general plans and oversee their implementation towards achieving customer service excellence.
  • Provide appropriate leadership, direction, supervision, and guidance to staff in accord with company culture and mission statement to promote positive employee morale and performance quality.
  • Maintain and represent facility and KemperSports in positive image in local community and industry.

 

Qualifications:

  • College degree required.
  • Minimum of 3 years General Manager and/or Director of Golf applicable premium daily fee and / or resort management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in the areas of full service golf operations, budget development, fiscal management, strategic planning, staff management.
  • Experience in oversight of Food and Beverage concession of at least $500,000 in total revenues preferred.
  • Significant knowledge and experience in casual dining and banquet operations
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Golf/Club POS systems and office applications including, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Access and Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including evenings/weekends/holidays and six or more work days per week.
  • Positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations.
