Property Description:

Located in the heart of Chicagoland’s North Shore, Winnetka Golf Club, established in 1917 and most recently renovated in 2023, features two distinct courses: a championship 18-hole layout and a 9-hole short course, complemented by a driving range and chipping facilities.

 

Position Summary:

As the Equipment Manager you will report to the Director of Agronomy and Golf Course Superintendent, the Equipment Manager repairs all equipment associated with all clubhouse and grounds departments. Responsibilities also include planning and implementing a preventative maintenance schedule for all equipment, assist in training staff in safe use and proper care and maintenance of assigned equipment, and advising the Director of Agronomy regarding major equipment failures and/or replacement needs.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement a preventative maintenance schedule for equipment.
  • Inspect equipment for operating deficiencies. Repair and adjust equipment as needed.
  • Lubricate and service all course maintenance equipment as necessary.
  • Maintain service, repair and usage records on all equipment.
  • Establish safety procedures and maintain safety records for equipment operation.
  • Performs grinding and sharpening methods to maintain all cutting units.
  • Maintain accurate records pertaining to budget, invoices, inventory, equipment repairs, and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Purchasing of parts, supplies and materials.
  • Use safe and environmentally sound use of storage and disposal of hazardous materials (fuel, grease, solvents, etc.).
  • Maintain a safe working environment.
  • Demonstrate to staff the use of new equipment and train in safe operation and proper care and maintenance of assigned equipment.
  • Advise the DOA & GCS regarding major equipment failures and/or replacement needs.
  • Perform general overhauls for equipment as needed.
  • Schedule includes weekdays, weekends and some holidays.
  • Manager-on-duty status on rotating weekends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school education required, college degree preferred.
  • 1 year experience with golf course equipment repair or auto repair.
  • Retrieve, read and interpret information from technical sources.
  • Ability to walk three (3) miles per hour.
  • Demonstrated ability to repair golf course equipment.
  • Demonstrated quality verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure. with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including nights/weekends.
  • Stand, sit, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, bend and kneel for up to 5 hours at a time.
  • Lift up to 100 lbs occasionally, 50 lbs frequently, and 20 lbs constantly.
  • Positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations.
