Gracing the northwest Columbus countryside the Golf Club of Dublin is the centerpiece of the Ballantrae community. The Tudor style clubhouse offers an incredible setting for social functions, or post outing gatherings. A Hurdzan/Fry designed 18-hole Championship golf course is the only true links experience in the Midwest featuring over 70 hand stacked sod face bunkers and water on almost every hole, The course hosts over 50,000 rounds per year, stretches over 350 acres and was voted one of the top ranked courses in the state by Golf Digest.
The club also features a very busy driving range, practice chipping and putting green, locker rooms with showers, and a full-service Pub Bar and ballroom that seats over 200 people. GCD is a leased property owned by the city of Dublin Ohio, also home to the famed Muirfield Village Golf Club.
Position Summary:
Manages and directs all departments of the club to include golf, grounds, clubhouse and food & beverage. Responsible for fiscal performance of the entire facility in compliance and in accord with Company policies and procedures. Develops and implements fiscal, operational, and business development plans and strategies. Establishes and administers operational standards and quality performance guidelines for all system operating functions and staffing. Instrumental in developing and/or implementing strategies for golf events, golf programs, social events and banquets, designed to improve the Club’s products and services as well as its competitive position in the marketplace.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Direct, coordinate and monitor the development of the facility’s annual business plan and operating/capital budgets. Make necessary adjustments and approve the final version for submission to senior management.
- Monitor and evaluate financial performance relative to budget goals and objectives. Analyze budget variances, develop and implement action plans to achieve appropriate adjustments.
- Analyze and evaluate operations to determine productivity efficiencies vs. budgeted standards. Develop and initiate action plans to achieve appropriate adjustments.
- Assure the efficient and timely submission of all required operational, financial, budgetary, and related reports.
- Review and approve financial expenditures and transactions relative to operations, services, and facilities/equipment within and according to established guidelines and procedures.
- Manage the proper communication of system activities to help ensure coordination of activities between departments. Communicate clearly, tactfully, and persuasively with employees and customers as applicable. Interface directly with department management when appropriate.
- Provide appropriate leadership in accord with Company culture and mission statement to promote positive employee morale and performance quality.
- Provide direction, supervision, and guidance to subordinate management staff to assist with their skill development and help ensure the successful development and implementation of appropriate departmental operating and safety plans, goals, and policies & procedures.
- Oversee and manage employment activities, including but not limited to, personnel recruitment and selection, performance evaluations, training, compensation, discipline, and termination, etc. to ensure compliance with Company human resources policies and procedures.
- Assist in implementing all company initiatives including TrueService, Green to a Tee, and Safety National.
- Assess the quality of customer service activities in all departments. Formulate general plans and oversee their implementation towards achieving increased customer service excellence.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, municipal officials, and community organizations.
- Maintain knowledge of current and projected industry developments through continuous attention to golf industry periodicals and participation in relevant trade associations and organizations.
- Assure the efficient and timely submission of all required operational, financial, budgetary and related reports.
- Oversee daily operating activities of all departments including opening, closing and securing all buildings; managing daily cash flow to ensure cash/credit card charges balance with sales receipts; monitoring staff interaction with guests to ensure proper customer service; maintaining clean, presentable and fully stocked golf shop and merchandise displays; ensuring that the golf shop, F&B pub, ballroom, kitchen, storage areas, cart barn, and grounds are maintained to applicable appearance standards;
- Own all systems and checklists to ensure compliance of organizational, cleanliness and sanitation standards.
- Ensure organization and efficient operation and coordination of golf shop, cart service and food & beverage activities.
- Interact with guests in a congenial and professional manner. Maintain pleasant and professional approach at all times. Handle customer inquiries and/or complaints in accordance with operating policies and procedures. Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- College degree preferred.
- PGA Class A designation preferred.
- 10 years applicable functional, supervisory and/or management experience, preferably in the golf industry.
- Demonstrated experience and capability in the areas of budget development, fiscal management, strategic planning, staff management.
- Retailing, marketing, and/or sales and customer service, guest relations experience preferred.
- Demonstrated quality written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency with computer software including word processing, spreadsheets and POS systems.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including nights/weekends.
- Positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations.
