Position Summary:
The Assistant Golf Professional will support the Head Golf Professional in managing all aspects of the golf operation to ensure an exceptional golf experience for members and guests. Responsibilities include overseeing daily operations, providing outstanding customer service, and assisting in golf instruction, tournaments, and merchandising.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists in the golf operations in cooperation with the Head Golf Professional, 1st Assistant Professional and Outside Services Manager.
- Assist in the management of the tee sheet, starting times, and pace of play.
- Enforce club policies and rules to maintain high service standards.
- Assist in the management and supervision of hourly golf shop and outside service staff.
- Provide a welcoming and professional environment for all members and guests.
- Address member concerns and resolve conflicts promptly.
- Conduct individual and group lessons for golfers of all skill levels.
- Assist with junior golf programs and clinics.
- Assist with the planning and execution of club tournaments, outings, and special events.
- Use tournament software for setup and scoring.
- Assist in the operation of the pro shop, including inventory management and sales.
- Assist in supervising the RMCC Caddie Program, including recruitment, training, and scheduling of caddies.
- Maintain a well-stocked and visually appealing shop.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Ensure the safety and security of equipment and facilities.
- Build a rapport with the golf department staff, golf maintenance staff and food and beverage staff; as well as across RMCC departments to create strong and supportive co-worker relationships.
Qualifications:
- BA / BS degree, preferred.
- PGA or LPGA apprentice or better, preferred.
- Min 1year experience in the golf or hospitality industry.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including nights/weekends.
- Strong knowledge of golf operations and the Rules of Golf.
- Proficient with golf software systems (e.g. Golf Genius, POS systems, CDGA & Cap Patrol Handicap systems).
- Previous experience in a similar role preferred; passion for golf and delivering exceptional service.
- Positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations.
