Staffer Spotlight: Amanda Placzankis

The KemperSports family is made up of outstanding and dedicated professionals who possess a deep passion for sports, service and people. Today, we’re proud to shine a light on Amanda Placzankis, the sales and marketing manager at Heron Glen Golf Course in Ringoes, N.J.

Amanda started at Heron Glen in 2016 working in the pro shop. What started as a fun, summer job has evolved into six strong years of personal and professional growth at Heron Glen.

“The environment fostered here is one that is so supportive of growth and learning, professionally and personally,” Amanda said of her experience as a KemperSports staffer. “There is such an emphasis on working as a team and setting the next person up for success.”

Amanda’s passion stems from building and fostering relationships with the people around her. As Heron Glen’s sales and marketing manager, she gets to connect with all different members of the community, ranging from members of local schools, community outreach programs, youth sports organizations, local charities and business owners.

“You meet so many people working in hospitality that come from different backgrounds and bring different life experiences,” she said. “And what I’ve learned over the last six years is that most of those people are willing to share those experiences with you.”

Looking back to when she first started working at Heron Glen, Amanda shares advice she’d give to her younger self and the next generation looking to break into the golf and hospitality industry: Be a sponge.

“Surround yourself with people who know more than you and always ask questions.”
